The interior of the nursery and playroom

The interior of the nursery and playroom: how to avoid mistakes

What to choose and consider, creating a comfortable and beautiful room for a child? Here are some guidelines to help parents sort out the issue.

Interior style or emphasis on the image?

One of the trends is to design the nursery in the style of the child’s favorite character. This approach dictates the color scheme, the principles of zoning and filling. But there is a problem: the child is growing, and idols are changing. Hence the second option: the choice of a certain interior style, and the design of the children’s room in accordance with its standards. The necessary accents can be done using posters or small decor items. Do you like the character? Posters are easy to remove, and decor is replaceable.

Common mistakes

  • Overloading the interior with details that match the chosen look or style.
  • Choosing colors that are too bright — simply because they are “traditionally” considered childish.
  • Excessive emphasis on children’s design details – as if the child would not grow up.
  • Zoning and decoration “for centuries” – while you need to leave room for quick changes, in accordance with interests and age.

How right?

Abandon the “rainbow” – a combination of a large number of bright colors. Give preference to stand-alone furniture elements so that it is easier to change as the child grows older. The same goes for textiles. It is better to choose fabrics that are easy to wash.

Non-standard ideas can and should be realized in the interior of a children’s room: for example, to make color accents on platbands and a plinth, paint the ceiling, originally arrange lighting elements … Or even install non-standard lamps: for example, a chandelier in the shape of a balloon. The scope for imagination is huge.
The design of the game room should emphasize its purpose: a podium, stage, wall decoration in the form of a climbing wall, a Swedish wall, a swing stand, a rope attached to the ceiling and other similar solutions are welcome.

Games room 0 and older

It is fully equipped with adults. Emphasis is on safety, convenience for the child, the ability to be creative. Walls and curtains on which you can draw, soft flooring, environmental friendliness, calm tones are key requirements.
If we summarize the recommendations on the arrangement of the interior of the game or children’s room, we get the following:

  • pastel colors;
  • compactness – kids do not like huge spaces;
  • no annoying bright colors;
  • focus on eco-friendly materials;
  • only practical textiles – without canopies and other “dust collectors”

Children’s room for a teenager

Adolescence starts at 11 years old. The child himself has the right to choose the design options for his room. The design of a nursery for a teenager is based on the following principles:

  • Preservation of personal space – a teenager should have his own “world”.
  • Ability to engage in hobbies. The area for hobbies should be protected from the study area. Also, regardless of the interests of the teenager, it is recommended to equip a sports corner in the room.
  • You cannot turn a teenager’s room into a banal bedroom. The child should have space for study, creativity, rest and storage.

Designing a children’s or playroom is a strictly individual process. And he needs professional solutions.
